it’s back to school

May 21st, 2007

For the next 12 months i’ll be spending my precious saturdays at school. I decided to take advantage of our company’s education assistance program to pursue a certification in programming. i’m getting bored taking the CBT courses every saturday and i guess i will be more productive if it’s a classroom-based type training. so it’s back to school for me this June. ;)

HR just announced that May is our Annual Physical Exam month. Of all the programs and benefits of the company this is what i hate the most. I’ve been doing this since i started working 10 years ago and i had the worst of the worst PE with a “gay doctor”. Nightmare! And i’m tired of doctors weighing my precious jewels but if it’s a gorgeous lady doctor i wont mind,  she can play with it anytime.

Roller coaster shift

May 4th, 2007

My shift is getting crazier everyday. Now i have to be here at work every Friday at 4 am in the morning for a call. How i wish i have a VPN at home. :(
I LOVE THIS JOB!

I wish i have a secretary

April 26th, 2007

After 2 executive meetings, 1 site visit from our Coprporate VP, series of reporting, annual discussion to my team, i finally had time to blog. 2 main reasons for no post(s) : 1. I’m soo tired at work (nothing knew about it). i don’t have anything to blog. In relation to reason # 1, i wish i can have a sexy-tary or admin assistant so i can pass to her ALL of my admin work. But here, only Sr. Mgrs are allowed to have one. so i guess i have to work harder to be on that position or build my own company. ;)
Though i don’t want to be in this position by the time i will have a secretary.

Tech Support Calls

April 21st, 2007

While doing some email housekeeping, i found this another forwarded message from my previous officemate when i was still a technical Support Rep. Believe me i experienced some of them. We even had a white board to record all of our “silliest call/s for the day” and then we talked about it during our post shift meeting..ahh, those where the days…
Customer: Hi, this is Celine. I can’t get my diskette out.
Tech support: Have you tried pushing the Button?

Customer: Yes, sure, it’s really stuck.
Tech support: That doesn’t sound good; I’ll make a note.

Customer: No, wait a minute… I hadn’t inserted it yet… it’s still on my desk… Sorry….

Sandisk Cruzer Micro

April 16th, 2007

I have a new gadget! I got myself a 2GB thumb drive - it’s a Sandisk Cruzer Micro USB flash drive. I’m already fed up queuing for the DVD-writer back in the office so i decided to  get a flash drive.  The cool thing about this flash drive is the U3 smart technology. It gives you the ability to carry your files AND your software on a secure USB drive.

Sandisk U3 smart dives give you the power to store and launch U3 compatible PC software directly from your USB drive on any PC wherever you go.

10 Commandments of Flirting

April 15th, 2007

I wasn’t able to catch the Pacquiao - Solis fight during lunch time coz i have to pick up the little kid from his 5 day summer camp at Camp Allen in Sta. Cruz Laguna. The trip from Laguna to Alabang only took us less than an hour which on a regular summer day will take 2 - 3 hours. Thank goodness it’s Pacquiao day today! No traffic! it’s a traffic-free trip all the way! And no traffic enforcers too..hehe.

So while waiting for the replay of the fight i chanced upon this interesting episode of Y speak @ studio 23. The episode is all about the “it’s complicated” status that is rapidly becoming so popular right now specially with friendster profiles. I really don’t get it why people choose that status ;)

PBB Housemate: Bruce

April 14th, 2007

Do i really look like Bruce Quebral of PBB?

I’ve been receiving numerous feedback that i look like Bruce. I’m not sure what made them think that i have a resemblance with the cager from U.P. Oh well, I’m Flattered! (showbiz) :)

I’ll  try to post my picture here anytime this week so we can check the resemblance.

Fastone Image viewer

April 13th, 2007

This is one powerful tool that we’ve been utilizing for quite sometime now. Maintaining the diskspace of our fileserver is a bit challenging especially if you have users who keep on saving those huge bitmap pictures in the server. This tool helps us convert all Bitmap files to JPG format in a jiffy. All you have to do is search for those BMP files, right click and then hit on batch convert. A single 2MB bmp can be converted to 255KB jpg file - that’s almost 87% increase to your diskspace. what more if you have hundreds of bitmap files. Good thing we have this kind of application.

FastStone Image Viewer is a fast, stable, user-friendly image browser, converter and editor. It has a nice array of features that include image viewing, management, comparison, red-eye removal, emailing, resizing, cropping and color adjustments. Its innovative but intuitive full-screen mode provides quick access to EXIF information, thumbnail browser and major functionalities via hidden toolbars that pop up when your mouse touches the four edges of the screen.

Recap

April 13th, 2007

The past few day I’ve been swamped with excel files, crystal reports and powerpoint slides. I have to create a presentation for 2 major meeting next week. The big guys from the U.S will be paying us a visit to check how things are going with our operations here in the Philippines. This is one admin job that is very very time consuming which explains for “no post”  for the past 3 days. After work all i want to do is go home and sleep. brain is dead, body is tired. Hopefully i can finish it today or else i have to go to work this weekend –nothing new about it!
