I received a txt message last night from one of my previous clients asking me if i could setup their wireless network in the office. Since i’m on a mandatory VL today and i don’t have anything to do i decided to pay them a visit. They plan to share their wireless network from the office to their newly opened coffee shop. If you are a coffee addict and you want a free wi-fi connection just visit them in Elizalde St. BF homes ParaƱaque.
Setting up a wireless connection is not that difficult, all you need is a modem (provided by the ISP) a PC (so you can configure your router) and of course a wireless router. Just wanna share with you the procedure i did earlier. Oh by the way they already have an internet connection all i have to do is share it wirelessly.
1. Unplug the RJ45 cable from the modem to the PC.
2. Connect the RJ45 cable from the PC to the router.
3. Configure the router by typing 192.168.1.1. for linksys router, leave the username blank and the password is admin.
4. Configure the Basic Setting - PPOE username and password. Set the DHCP to enabled.
5. configure the Wireless settings. change the SSID to the clients desied name. configure WEP for protection.
6. change the router IP from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 since the ISP’s modem is using 192.168.1.1 connection.
7. Save Setting.
8. Unplug the cable from the PC to the router.
9. Connect RJ45 cable from the modem to the WAN port of the linksys router.
10. check wireless connectivity of the client PC’s.
