Let’s play “What’s missing from this picture” game.

Picture no. 2

If you frequent Yuga’s site (Philippine’s Most read blogger), you will easily figure out that in Picture 1 - google adsense is missing.

So here’s the story : While reviewing some of the comments posted on my site I noticed that adsense are not showing up. Initially i thought maybe adsense is down(maintenance probably :D ) or my account has been banned (we don’t want that to happen). So then i decided to visit yuga’s site and his blog network both from IE and firefox to verify if the problem is isolated only to my site or to my account or my bowsers. I got the same result! so i asked my officemate who is in the office to check couple of sites and if they see any google ads. After 2 minutes i got a txt msg that my site has adsense. What do you know, the problem is not with adsense nor with my account nor with my browsers. Everything boils down to my computer. I then searched mighty google to check if there’s an existing case of missing adsense. it pointed me to google adsense help center.

So i checked everything - disabled winXP firewall, Scanned my computer for virus, checked my browser settings, and disabled my Anti-virus firewall. After doing all those procedures i still have that problem. suddenly i realized that the latest update i had on my rig is the anti-virus. A couple of days ago i installed Kaspersky Anti-virus in exchange for Avast. I then started tinkering with kaspersky’s setting - disabling this and that, unchecking some of the buttons but still the problem is pesistent until finally i settled in disabling the whole anti-virus. Eureka! it works! I can now see my adsense, but wait that leaves my computer vulnerable.

Another dillema, good thing you can get answers from the internet. I found out that the outdated version of kaspersky had an issue with the anthiphising module and the only resolution is to get an update. Now i don’t have to worry anymore about my adsense not showing up.

I forgot this one simple rule to always keep your system (anti-virus/OS) up-to-date.
